On f. 2r in the preface is mentioned that the text has been translated from the Hebrew original into Latin by Corneil Agrippa and from the Latin into French by a certain rabbi.
The original Hebrew text of this very old book on magic which was known in several translations was unknown until 1903. Cf. Steinschneider, Hebr. Übersetzungen, p. 938, and G. Scholem, Bibliographia kabbalistica, nr. 801.
