Riddles and solutions, copied from Sefer Sod Yesharim of Judah Aryeh Modena by David Franco Mendes, Amsterdam ab. 1770.

Contains 60 riddles, the first 50 are copied from Sefer Sod Yesharim, the last 9 are by David Franco Mendes himself and 1 riddle is anonymous and written by another person.

Sefer Sod Yesharim was printed for the first time in Venice, 1595.

Contents:

f. 8v: Text in Spanish: “Un nino ha nacido, / que antes de su padre nacío, / su aquela Virgen era / hasta qu’el niño murio”.


Text in Hebrew with a part in Spanish / Paper / 9,2 x 7,1 cm / [19] ff. (first 2  and last 3 ll. and f. 13r-14v blank) / Sephardic cursive writing with square headings / At the end one riddle written in a different Sephardic cursive hand / Title written in engraved frame / Catchwords at the bottom of each page.
