This manuscript is an apologetic response to Don Alonso de Cepeda’s Defensa de los terminos y doctrina de S. Raymundo Lullio (Brussels, 1666), a reply to Orobio’s polemical work Respuesta a un sujeto, que dudava, si el Libro de Raymundo Lulio, nuevamente traduzido, y comentado, era inteligible… Cepeda had accused Orobio of misunderstanding Lulio’s thought. So, in Respuesta apologetica, the author combined a critique of Cepeda’s writing with a clarification of his criticisms against Lulio’s Arbor Scientiae (Tree of Knowledge).
